Kinja'd!!!1 Kinja'd!!! 2

Well another quiet Sunday night with me and Netflix. I have decided to watch the documentary called Senna. I know its about Ayrton Senna and F1 racing but know very little of the story other than that. I have created a commentary as I watch the movie which you can read, though it won't make much sense if you haven't seen it. I will post this story some time tomorrow after I edit it a bit more.

0:15 - sort of a F&F intro feel to me

0:30 - Oh jeeze lots of subtitles

2:00 - I want a shifter kart.

3:00 - Ayrton is in an F1 car already, that didn't take long!

3:28 - Monaco in 1984, probably no one doing coke there

4:47 - Lauda just got blown by...

5:44 - F1 in the rain looks bonkers, thank god for that tunnel

6:14 - James Hunt commentating too, well there is the Rush fellas

7:05 - Senna takes 2nd in the first race they show, what an underdog story this is becoming

7:40 - Senna can speak English, thank god.

8:13 - Kid is now a member of Lotus, if only it was that quick

9:39 - Senna was a privileged kid, but seemed to work hard and study racing, like Lauda I think

10:51 - He won the Portugal grand prix, he seems to drive best in the rain, unlike anyone else ever

12:13 - Ladies love him, especially the Asian ones

13:30- "Professor" Prost introduction, more of a politican in the sport than a driver it seems. Pretty ugly man though, square wheels for sure.

14:57 - Senna is now with McLaren, time to go fast!

16:39 - People in the 80's were real hairy, and everyone seems to be ok with it.

17:16 - Old school film in the cockpit, with a Honda steering wheel :P

18:50 - Senna was miles ahead, crashed and Prost won, seeing a rift forming here! Stay tuned!

19:58 - Guess its 1988 now, Senna looks pretty good, this Prost guy is swearing like a sailor

21:29 - He stalled off the line at Japanese grand-prix, now I feel like hes human. Rain again, Senna takes the lead in the McLaren cigarette machine

23:14 - Senna is world champ 23 mintues in, god they are really building the tension.

25:26 - They are on a boat and his lady friend is quite the looker, too many Speedos...

27:02 - Super strange Brasilian tv show

27:41 - Prost and Senna seem to not like each other at all, team is falling apart. Team Senna!

29:07 - Old rich white guys controlling stuff, shocker

31:28 - Prost whipes out Senna so that he can win world championship, bloody French

33:10 - Senna still wins, Prost is now a douche in my books

34:27 - Senna gets DQed, politics screwing over Brazilians, Hello World Cup 2014!

37:22 - Senna seems to be blamed for causing the crash and gets suspended. Horse dicks!

38:33 - Senna's back in 1990, shit starts flying between him and now Ferrari driver Prost. Extreme leap in film quality for some reason

40:57 - Some other bloke at Lotus has a huge crash, seems to scare Senna, how the plot thickens

43:08 - Back at the Japanese track, other drivers seem to hate Senna, but fuck those dudes Senna is the man. World Championship implications again

46:29 - Senna with the F-bomb!

47:07 - Prost and Senna crash, Senna wins Championship on points!

48:30 - Senna is champ but doesn't like winning how he did, guy is just too proud

49:19 - JACKIE STEWART!!!!! Asks kind of a dick question to Senna

51:03 - Senna vs. Prost is a big deal now. More than Clarkson vs. Morgan even!!!

52:05 - Brasil looks terrible, but people still love Senna

53:10 - Brasilia Gran-prix, Senna wants to win at home!!! Lets watch and see how it works out.

53:55 - Rain, Senna loves Rain. The kid wins at home!!!

55:10 - He screams like a mental patient and swears like a sailor, how else do you win!

56:12 - His body locked up after the race and he passed out. Kind of like your first orgasm I would think.

58:45 - Senna looks like a kid I knew from high school that drank apple juice all the time, finally figured it out, was bugging me

1:00:43 - He keeps getting better and I keep snickering at the phrase "Pole Position"

1:01:34 - Senna rolled 'er, in the hospital for the first time, all good though

1:04:53 - Old man F1 being a douche again, Senna wins the vote, BAM!

1:06:32 - Prost canned by Ferrari, couldn't of happened to a nicer guy

1:07:08 - Back at Japan again, this place seems like its every race, Senna wins world championship again, such talent, much race, wow!

1:09:29 - Senna seems like a happy dude, partying like a boss! Autographing boobs and everything!

1:11:55 - Said he was not complete yet

1:12:38 - Renault has car that auto balances in the corners, McLaren doesn't, Senna is at a huge disadvantage, building some tension here, oh goodie!

1:15:09 - Prost wins in the fancy Renault car, and retires. Little wimp.

1:16:39 - McLaren and Senna are done, kind of makes the Mp4-12c look silly now.

1:18:37 - F1 outlaws all the fancy tech at start of new season; no stabilization, traction control, or dynamic brakes for you

1:19:45 - Schumacher on the scene, winning races like a boss. Senna thinks Schumachers car is rigged.

1:22:01 - Senna spinning out like a giraffe on ice in the Renault now.

1:25:27 - Senna hates the car, other drives crash a lot. F1 cars are giving out easier than a girl with daddy issues at prom

1:27:15 - Another drive crashes and dies. Senna gets very upset, his doctor tries to convince him to retire

1:28:40 - Bunch of them standing around a car, Senna looks like Jerry Seinfeld for a moment

1:29:23 - Senna doesn't have the same drive to drive anymore

1:32:40 - More crazy on board footage, film seems to skip in the corners

1:33:30 - Senna flies into the wall hard, real hard, front row at the strippers hard

1:35:01 - Senna's doctor thinks he has died, but Senna seems to relax. Taken from track in helicopter

1:37:08 - R.I.P Senna, 1 in a million shot takes him out.

1:39:00 - Brazil has lost a hero, millions on the route where Senna is taken

1:39:57 - Very emotional funeral, lots of cut-aways to his past achievements

1:41:02 - Goes back to Senna answering a question about who the best drivers he has raced. His answer is back in karting before the politics and money

1:42:03 - Information about Senna's charities and his legacy in racing

1:42:49 - Credits

Overall a pretty good racing movie/doc about someone who I knew very little about before this. I have to think his death at a young age so long ago could be why we don't hear about him as much now. Quite the talent and left a huge legacy that has made F1 safer today. The mark he has left on Brazil is also a big part of this film. Hope you enjoyed my commentary of the movie! Its a good watch for you OPPOnauts

Feel free to let me know what you think!

I saw the movie at the theater with my parents (Dad is a car nut like me, Mom just was curious because she remembers when Dad and me sat to watch the good ole F1 races).

I really liked it, brought so many memories, made me really sad and cry a little.

When I was a kid, I always was on Team Prost, I liked his style and technique, Senna seemed back then like a sort of bully with a natural talent, rather than true skill gained from hard work. It was maybe a middle point between those, I was just a kid, can't really know.

What I remember is that I seriously hated Senna back then, I cheered when he had a DNF and Prost was in the lead; however, when he died, I felt terrible, like if I had lost something, like if it was part my fault, I cried and cried like a 3-year old even if I was 12 at the time.

I have yet to rent the BluRay version, people say it has a good chunk of extra footage that makes Prost look less like a villain and pose him more like Senna's biggest rival, which is what I think is more real.

I never liked how this film made Prost as the bad guy, when it was F1 brass who kept screwing Senna over. Prost was just the beneficiary of Senna's penalties. Oh, and the Renault is a Williams.
